2005
For us
2004 started out with a band and ended with a KABOOM! It was
a great year for Trivision and we anticipate 2005 to be much the same.
Already we are so busy. With the recent release of Version 6.0 and
higher oil and gas prices, leading to increased exploration, everyone
involved has much on their plates.
We are
making a big push on Version 6.0, Power*Core, and building strong
partnerships. We are also planning with great anticipation, the upcoming
2005 AAPG/CSPG joint convention to be held here in Calgary at the
Round-Up Centre. It is hoped that over 8000 delegates from around the
world will be in town to take in the conference. As years before,
Trivision will show case its world renowned software at booth 308.
Regarding Power*Suite, we have a few notices and tips.
-
First,
beginning in May 2005 Version 4.01 will no longer be supported by
Trivision.
-
Windows 95 is not supported with Power*Suite. Versions 3.3 or below
cannot run on Windows XP. If you have Version 3.3, 4.01 is a free
upgrade.
-
It is
recommended you upgrade to the latest version of Power*Suite. For
upgrade prices
click here. Remember January we are offering upgrades at 10% off.
-
When
upgrading your computer, most computers today do not have a parallel
port. Therefore if you are using a parallel port key or printer, you
will need to switch to a USB key, only $99. (You may still find
computers with parallel ports but you will have to ask.)
-
Lastly, new computers do not come with a floppy drive. Technology has
evolved to the point where most are using jump drives, using the USB
port. So, if you use floppies, make sure to get an external drive.
We
want to thank you for all your help. We encourage all to voice their
opinions or suggestions on our software. If you have a suggestion for an
improvement or an idea for an opportunity, please
contact us, we
pay cash for referrals.
Power*Suite 6.0
Version 6.0
is without a doubt the most exciting release yet. We
have greatly enhanced Power*Core and made Log and Curve
the most practical logging tool available. We have
made this version even easier, adding new tracks and
layers. We have made real strides in our Core logging
module and feel there is none other in the market to
match it.
One of the
considerable new features is the ability to print your
reports to MS Word, where you can manipulate and
customize it yourself. We have added the corporate logo
module for everyone. So, if you do not have it you
will get it for FREE with this upgrade. Other new or
improved features include:

Bob's Bits
Well here we are strong
into another hectic drilling season. I hope everyone is working as much as
they can or want. I guess the main complaint these days is that the drilling
is getting faster and faster and that one man cannot keep up the upper
portions of the well. There are some positive signs that the complaints are
being heard as more wellsite geologist are being accompanied with sample
washers or junior hands to help with this increased workload.
We also are striving to
get the data entry into our Power*Suite applications easier and faster with
our newest release of Version 6. It also allows the user to have more tools
at their command to create more in depth logs so as to interpret the
geological data into our log based application.
We have, for the most
part upgraded our corporate users over to Version 6 so that any users out
there waiting for the upgrade can now do so at their convenience.
We are looking forward to
seeing you all at the AAPG / CSPG joint conference held here in Calgary for
the first time since 1991. The trade show is scheduled to run from June 19th
to the 22nd. This will be one of the biggest geological trade
shows to hit this town in a long time and if you do have the opportunity of
visiting us down at the Round up centre please feel free to do so. Our booth
number is 308.
As always we would like
you to drop us a line, email or call us if you have any issues, needs or
wants to make our applications the best ever. We are forever striving to
make Power*Suite the number one geological striplog application there is.
Without your input we would fall short of that objective. We also would like
to thank each and everyone of you that have done so in the past and to
remind you all to keep up the great work.
It is always a pleasure
to serve you in any way we can.
Hope you have a great
drilling season.

Tips
Having problems with your HASP key?
We have noticed on a few computers using the USB key and Windows XP, that
there may be an error within the OS. If you attempt to log on to Power*Suite
and it gives you the message, "Harware Key Not Found" you may have
that problem. To fix it is simple. Simply uninstall the "HASP Hardware
Key Driver" and reinstall it. This is found in your Control Panel
and Add/Remove Programs directory.
get the Hasp key driver. Note: This has only occurred on
Windows XP and with USB keys. We recommend you update your Operating Systems
to the latest version on a regular basis.
Need Your Costs in
the Reports? This is a simple one.
When producing your daily drilling summary (Morning Reports) make sure you
have selected [TV] in the Report Format field, (system
defaults to [ps]) found on the right side of your reports window. In
Morning Reports, costs show up in:
- Summary & Lithology
Report
- Frm, Lith Sum, Total
Gas Report
- Frm, Lith Sum,
Chromatography Report
In the Well End Reports
