installing Power*Suite: Bad path error - ERRDOC: Windows Installer Error

running HASP Update Tool – MS DOS Subsystem Error 1. Q. My program says I have only . . . days left, but I
have a Hasp key. What happened? A. If you start Power*Suite without your Hasp key on the computer, it will default to a trial license. You will be able to tell, if you start Power*Suite up and this message appears, "Hardware Key not found, would you like to activate a trial license", you may incidentally click, "Yes", thus activating a Trial license. Then each time you open Power*Suite, not matter if you have the hardware key on or not this message will appear, "Trial License . . . Days." If you notice you are now running a trial license and your hasp is connected you will need to switch your license back. To do this follow these instructions: ·
Click
on Start/All
Programs/PowerSuite_V6/Utilities/License Selector ·
From
the License Selector window, click the “Options”
menu and select “Hasp” · Close window and start Power*Suite back up · This message should now appear: "Registered to License #50028" You will now be able to run Power*Suite normally again. If this error persists you may have a problem with your hasp. See here for possible solution. 2. Q. How do I create an image file so I can use it in other
software? A.
There are a couple ways that this can be done.
3. Q: How do I print reports to PDF and make one document? A.
When using Power*Suite's Reporting software, you will print reports in PDF or
Word into separate files. This is part of Crystal Reports format we use to
create the reports. Settings:
What we suggest is to print all reports to the same directory. (Create a “Reports” directory on your desktop or in “My Documents” for easy access) 1. Print all selected reports to print and print to the created directory 2. Open the title page from directory, it will be defaulted to the name, “wendttl.pdf” (The file should open in Adobe Acrobat, if it opens in Adobe Reader you will need to open Acrobat and open the document from there) 3. To merge the documents, select, from the top menu “Documents” and click on “Insert Pages” or click “Ctr+Alt+I” 4. Select the next report to insert and select “After”. This will insert the next report in the order the Table of Contents has them listed as. 5. Do this for all the reports until you have inserted all reports into one document. 6. Save document, and give it a different name. (So as not to overwrite current files) 7. You can then send this single PDF to your client. 4. Q. Every time I log on I get the message: "WARNING:
Your database file has grown 25 Megs + since the last Compact/Repair"
What do I do? A.
First, ensure you are running the latest version. Then compile a
Compact/Repair on your database. This will improve the speed of your program
and rid it of any corrupt files. Compacting and repair of a Microsoft Access database should be performed on a regular basis to reclaim lost space and fix any possible data errors in the tables. Step 1. Make sure all other applications that access the database are currently closed. Open “Database Manager” and select your database, and type in your user name and password to connect. Step 2. Click on the “Compact / Repair tab” and click the “Compact / Repair button”. 5. Q. My Hasp has failed to be recognized. A.
If your key is a USB key and you have Windows XP, the problem is quite
simple. With the installation of SP2 an error is created with HASP which
causes the key to fail to be recognized. To fix this error, download this
zip file and follow the instructions below: · Uninstall the haspxp.exe from the add/remove programs (which is found in the control panel of windows), once removed reinstall the haspxp.exe file and the error should be fixed If
this does not work, please contact Trivision
immediately for further assistance. 6. Q. How
do I enter Longitude and Latitude into the Well Record Window? A.
These fields will only accept a number with one
decimal place. For example Geographic Longitude is given usually as degrees, hours minutes and seconds (111° 33’33.35") as is entered into the record as 111.333335 For example Geographic Latitude is also given usually as degrees, hours minutes and seconds (111° 33’33.35") as is entered into the record as 50° 41’44.23" is entered as 54.414423 7. Q. How
do I delete a well from my database? A.
You do not have to have a well open to delete it
but it can be open. Within Power*Log / Power*Curve application Click on “Edit” on the menu bar. This will activate a pull down menu. Steps to delete a well from the database: 1. Click on the Well selection. This will activate the Well record window. 2. Click on the “Well Name” button. This will activate the Well list window. 3. Select your well you wish to delete from the list by double clicking on the well name or by clicking once on the well name and click on the “select” button. This will place your well record into the Well record window. 4. Click on the “Del” button. This will activate a system message "Do you really want to delete the current record?" 5. Click on the “Yes” button. This will delete the well and all of its data from the database. Note:
When a Well is deleted from the database, the database file (pgeology.db)
does not get any smaller. Once the database has taken up space on your hard
drive it does not give it back. To get the database file back to its smallest
possible size you must load an empty database from the Installation disks. 8. Q. I
have imported LAS curve data from an outside source into my database for a
particular well and the curve data does not show up on my log. This happens
even after the LAS import window has told me that the data has been imported
successfully. Why? A.
The curve name that was imported does not match
the curve name that has been associated with the Curve Layers that you wish
to show the curve data on. Example: The curve name that was imported is a ROP and the curve associated with the Drill Rate layer is called Drill Rate. The ROP curve is in the database but has not been associated with the Drill Rate Layer. Steps to associate a different curve with the Drill Rate layer. 1. Make the Drill Rate Layer Active by clicking on the “Drilling Progress Track” and selecting “Drill Rate” from the Layer Selection List box. 2. Then Click on “Edit” on the Menu Bar and select Layer Configuration. This will activate the Drill Rate layer configuration window. 3. In the Curve Definitions portion of the Window click on the “Curve” button. This will activate a Curve List Window. 4. Select the “ROP” curve from the list by double clicking on the “ROP” name. This will place the ROP curve name in the Curve name field. 5. Click on the “Save” button to save your changes. 6. Then press your “ESC” key on your keypad. The ROP curve will now be shown on your Drill Rate layer. Note: For more than one curve it will be
easier to utilize the Curve Maintenance option in Power*Log. Refer to User
Manual for instructions on use. 9. Q. How
do I create a PDF. A.
First ensure you have Adobe Distiller installed on your
computer. Distiller acts as a printer, when installed it will allow you to
select it as a printer. (If you do not have a copy, you can buy one from Adobe's website, or you can buy it
from any local store who sells software.) 1. Click on the “File” menu and select the print job you want. For example, select Print Log, this will bring up the print window. 2. To select the printer to be printed to select the “Printer Setup” button found on the bottom right. 3. In the Print Status Window there will be a drop down box beside Name. This is your default printer. To select PDF, drop the box down and select “Acrobat Distiller”, and click OK. 4. Now go through the normal print procedures you would for a hard copy. Ensure the “Meta File” radio button is selected in the “Print Methods” box. Color, should be selected in the “Color Options” box. 5. Once everything is selected for your print job, click Print. 6. It will then ask you to save the file. Give it a file name and click “Save”. It will now begin to print to PDF. 7. A PDF file should open up to show you what you just printed. And you are done. 10. Q. How do I create, add or edit a rock type, rock accessory
or symbol? A.
Creating and/or
Editing Rock Types, Accessories or Symbols 1. Click on the Metafile Options selection located under the Edit pull down window. 2. Click on the category of the symbol you wish to modify or edit. 3. Click on the symbol you wish to edit or create. 4. Click on the Edit button. This will activate a System Message window. 5. Click on either Yes or No button and the Power Metafile Editor will open with the selected symbol in the window that you have selected. 6. You can now edit or create a symbol to your liking. 7. Once the metafile has been modified, click on the Save button. And the new symbol, rock type or accessory will be saved in your database and available to use on your log.
