They Said it?

"I have traveled the length and breadth of this country and talked with the best people, and I can assure you that data processing is a fad that won't last out the year."

The editor in charge of business books for Prentice Hall, 1957

Getting the jitters again
The price of oil jumped by more than a dollar a barrel after plunging to a four-month low during the first days of the war in Iraq. Traders are now worried that the conflict could last longer than they had expected. Sharp cuts in Nigerian production have also played a part.

Trade Shows
In 2002 Trivision Geosystems only attended one trade show, the Annual CSPG Convention in Calgary. Well folks, things are a changin'. For 2003 Trivision has a plan to attend five trade shows. We have confirmed booths at the 11th Williston Horizontal Show in Regina, SK, the Annual AAPG/SEG Convention in Salt Lake City, UT, and the Annual CSPG/CSEG Convention in Calgary, AB. We are also planning on attending the  Oil Sands Trade Show in Fort McMurray in September and the GCAGS Convention in Baton Rouge, LA in October.

We are looking forward to being at all these shows, to talk with the many Power*Suite users and those who are interested in learning more about it. To view where we will be at those shows click here.

Bobs Bits
It certainly has been a busy winter and should be, by all reports, a very active summer and fall drilling season. We are adding new corporate clients and individual wellsite consultants at a nice steady pace.

We are just putting the finishing touches to Version 5.01 and the new Core logging package. The new functionality’s and tracks for all of our products including Log, Curve and Core are just so good that this package will blow the doors off all of our competition. The old adage of seeing is believing will be a good one for this release. We will be at numerous trade shows over the spring and summer season so please try and make it out to visit us if you possibly can.

We have added numerous functionalities for both the wellsite and office geologists. They are too numerous to mention here in the newsletter. We will be advising you, in the near future, as to what those improvements are. They will be sent out to each and every one of you so that you can make an informed decision on your need to purchase or not. After all the development time that has been spent I can pretty well tell you that you will like what we have done. Remember that half of these implementations have been our user’s suggestions.

We have had the opportunity of showing and beta testing our core logging software on numerous occasions.  We have had considerable very positive feedback about the ease of use, so we hope with this release that maybe, just maybe, we will get rid of that stigma of hard to use. Also, we will continue to strive to better our products, so if you have any suggestions, feedback, or would just like to say HI, please do. You all know by now how to contact us or me for that matter, so feel free. All suggestions or comments are wanted, needed and required to make these products the best they can be.

R. W. (Bob) Sephton, P. Geol.

Tip Of the Month
Want to Change the Lithology Description?

Change the Lithology Description including font, size and color
Did you know you can change the font sizes of all the annotations in a single track at once?

Just double click the track to open the annotation builder, and then right click on the track to bring up the pop-up menu. From the menu, select ‘Change Font Properties’ and choose new settings that will affect all annotations/lithology descriptions on that track.

For more information see the Power*Suite User Manual pp 265-270 or click here.
