They Said It?

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

I haven't committed a crime. What I did was fail to comply with the law.

Bob's Bits
Time does fly when you are having fun, or busy or both. Spring is upon us and we are getting ready to release Version 6. Most of the emphasis has been on getting our core logging tool up to snuff. We have implemented two new tracks for all our users. The first track, Generic Category, will enable all our users to enter generic data into a column (facies, Lithofacies, depositional environments) or any other catchall categories that the program doesn’t offer you at this time. Also we have added a Generic Percent category so that you can capture any category of data types in a percentage format with a click and a drag. These data types could be percentages of fractures, clay material, silica grains or any other types of data.

We also have automated the sidetrack option for our users so we duplicate a wells data down to a specified depth and associate it with a new well name and uwi. It works really slick and reduces the time and brain cell destruction to sidetrack a well.

We are developing and will be including in the version 6 upgrade the ability to log two grain size or carbonate textures (bimodal grain size) at the same depth. The concept will be to add a second layer to the grain size or carbonate texture track for matrix. The same drawing functionalities will be applicable to both.

The core loggers will also enjoy the abundance feature for rock accessories, sedimentary structures, trace fossils and bioturbation layers as well as the new Core Log title page.

Lots of other significant goodies and options have also been implemented to help you along the way.

We have spent our time wisely and will be releasing here quite soon.

We have continued our marketing push into the US. Because of our success at the AAPG conference in Salt Lake City we decided to send our marketing people down to the AAPG conference in Dallas. Next year we will have a combined CSPG and AAPG here in Calgary so that will make it a tradition. This should further our penetration into the US marketplace.

If any of you are planning to go to this years CSPG convention please feel free to drop by our booth #401 and discuss any of the new revisions or just spin some yarn.

Keep up the great work as our products are only as good as our users. Remember if you have any thoughts on how to make the programs better, more efficient or easier to use give us a shout and let us know.

R.W. (Bob) Sephton, P. Geol.

AAPG
Well we just got back from the 2004 Annual AAPG Meeting in Dallas, TX. For the second time Trivision attended the annual AAPG meeting. Last year in Salt Lake City and we believe it was a great success. This year in Dallas it was even better. Many people recognized our brand and are more familiar with Power*Suite. There were over 5000 in attendance this year. We would like to thank all who visited our booth and hope to be able to assist you with your logging needs in the future. Next year will be even better since the AAPG and CSPG will be a joined convention here in Cow Town. Hope to see y'all there!

CSPG
The 2004 CSPG Annual Meeting should be exciting as Trivision is working directly with the organizing committee. We currently attend all the CSPG annual meetings held here in Calgary. This year we think will be a great convention as we are working in the organizing committee to ensure it is the best. This year there will, once again be outdoor and indoor booths. Come and see us at booth 401. We look forward to it, we hope you do too.
